Colin Middleton (1910-1983)
Colin Middleton was born in Belfast and trained at Belfast College of Art. During the late 1930s through to the 50's, he painted in a surrealist style.
Later, he moved on to less enigmatic works. He produced many drawings, designed sets for the Circle Theatre and the Lyric Theatre, produced murals, mosaics and posters.
In 1954 he took up a teaching post at the Belfast College of Art and at Coleraine Technical School, eventually becoming head of art at Friends' School, Lisburn.
He was also an accomplished poet and musician.
